Yummy yoghurt!

Ngā Kiwi 1, 2 and 3 children love yoghurt but we realised we were using lots of single use packaging. We counted our yoghurt waste from one week and found out we used 20 yoghurt pouches and 34 yoghurt pottles! All of this packaging can only be used once before it is recycled or thrown into the rubbish bin. We asked the children to think of ways to reduce the amount of single use yoghurt packaging in NK1, 2 and 3. They had lots of great ideas:
- Use a small container that can be washed and reused many times - Lucy. Jhai said this was a good idea as you could save some yoghurt to eat later if you were full.
- Make your own yoghurt like Cara
- Buy a big container from the supermarket instead of small pottles
- Have yoghurt for afternoon tea instead of at school - James

We will count our yoghurt waste from this week on Thursday and find out how much we have reduced single use yoghurt packaging in our class. Watch this space!
